Theophilus "Theo" Sokuma

Theophilus Sokuma is a writer from Northern Nigeria. His creative and research interests lie in trauma studies, especially the ethical, narratological, and socio-political dimensions of representing trauma in literature. He is concerned with how collective and historical traumas: war, state violence, religious extremism, structural oppression, shape both individual psychology and collective identity formation. He is interested in how memory functions in such contexts: how societies remember or strategically forget violence; how individuals inherit, internalise, resist, or re-narrate trauma; and how literature can engage these processes with ethical rigour. These concerns extend to marginalised subjectivities: queer, disabled, neurodivergent, and mentally ill figures. His work is informed by an interdisciplinary nexus: trauma theory, postcolonial studies, disability studies, queer theory, and narrative ethics.
