Conrad Salisbury

My research interests include early modern literature, particularly the works of John Milton, as well as poetry and poetics across the literary periods. I intend to explore the relationship between literature, conscience, and the moral imagination, drawing on rhetoric, philosophy, and theology to examine how literary texts shape ethical perception and cultivate habits of reading. More specifically, I hope to investigate Milton's understanding of conscience as a cultivated mode of reading, considering how this conception bridges literary, philosophical, and theological inquiry and what insights it may offer modern readers.
