Research interests focus on late medieval romance.

Shelby’s research is interested in textual resistance to boundary relationship demonstrated in medieval romance literature. She seeks to examine linguistic and formal indeterminacy to emphasize points of contact apparent in Middle English and Middle Scots’ texts.
