Composition and curriculum development

Douglas Hunt is the author of three college textbooks: The Riverside Guide to Writing (Houghton Mifflin, 1991, 1994), The Riverside Anthology of Literature (Houghton Mifflin, 1988, 1992, 1996), and The Dolphin Reader (Houghton Mifflin, 1986, 1990, 1993, 1996, 1999, 2002). He is a winner of both the Purple Chalk Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching and the Gold Chalk Award for excellence in training graduate students. He taught undergraduate courses in composition and graduate courses in his current area of research; which links student writing to theories of adult development. His most recent book is Misunderstanding the Assignment: Teenage Students, College Writing, and the Pains of Growth (Heinemann, 2002).
