On November 1st, 2018, program alum LaTanya McQueen read from her newly published essay collection, And It Begins Like This (Black Lawrence Press, 2018), to a packed house in Ellis Library. LaTanya read the essay, “And for By Grace” and answered questions about her process in writing the book, engaging archival research, and what it’s like to write about family.
