  Course Description
This class introduces students to the craft of creative writing, as well as to being part of a literary community as an author, reader, editor, and citizen. We will learn different approaches to making and revising our own literature, as well as how to be useful to others doing the same. Students will produce writing in three broad genres (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction), while expanding their awareness of just how various these genres can be by reading, discussing, and emulating dynamic published examples by Meena Alexander, Margaret Atwood, Guillaume Apollinaire, Aimee Bender, Victoria Chang, Joy Harjo, Jamaica Kincaid, Kay Ryan, Oscar Wilde, and others.
