This course is offered online in the second 8 weeks of the semester.

In this course we will focus on creating fictional worlds: whether fantastical, futuristic, realistic, or otherwise. Writing fiction sometimes requires painstaking attention not just to setting, but to the rules of the world in which the story takes place. We will be writing stories collaboratively and individually, in class and take-home, with prompts and without. We will read Michael Kardos's The Art and Craft of Fiction, but the main text in the course will be the stories that you produce.
