Samuel Cohen's new book examines censorship efforts
Samuel Cohen, associate professor and associate chair of English, has published his new book, "Banning Books in America: Not a How-To." The collection of essays offers firsthand reflections from those whose books might be challenged and provides insights from academics, educators, and advocates engaged in defending access to literature.
Structured in three parts — “Writers on Book Banning,” “Arguments About Book Banning,” and “Teachers on Book Banning” — the volume addresses not only high-profile book challenges but also the quieter, systemic attempts to restrict what is taught and read in schools and libraries.
