Course Description

The Cold War. Civil Rights. The Vietnam War. Pollution. Social Revolution. These are just some of the issues that the U.S. faced following World War II. This course will look at the way American authors wrote about these issues, as well the impact creative writers have had on the American political system…. and the consequences they sometimes face. The course is writing intensive and discussion-based. We will talk about and critically think through some of the historical conflicts and debates that have set the tone for the America we know today as we read classics of American literature.
