Course Description

Introduction to Folklore seeks to give students a foundation in folkloristics through understandings of folk groups, genres, and research methods. Through surveys of the discipline’s history and contemporary landscape, students will learn to identify key folkloric concepts and practice with understanding and application of these concepts through reflective writing and class discussion. The culminating project employs research and field work, and students will conduct interviews that result in an ethnographic study. Cross listed with Anthropology 1150.
