The hero, whose name is Equality 7-2521, is feared by leaders of the community for his curious mind and is assigned to be a street-sweeper, though he yearns to be a scientist. The novella, Anthem, follows his journey towards freedom from a society built for total control. Anthem is a beautiful story to read if you want to escape from the present and explore so far in the future that you feel you have reverted to the past. It’s a great choice to read while cuddling up on your couch with a blanket over and your favorite warm drink.
