Associate Teaching Professor Gabriel Fried has been chosen as a 2017 recipient of the Win Horner Award by the Campus Writing Program. MU English professor Dr. Win Horner was a nationally known and respected pioneer in “writing across the curriculum.” The winner of this $1,500 award demonstrates the same pioneering spirit in their teaching of Writing Intensive courses through developing a new and innovative WI course or implementing new approaches within their teaching. Fried was selected on the basis of his overall record of teaching WI courses, including “How to Read a Poem” (with Dr. Alexandra Socarides) and “Literature and Baseball.”
