This course is designed to introduce students to a range of critical writing styles, from that found in academic articles and books to the crossover style employed in writing for venues like The Los Angeles Review of Books and Public Books. We'll discuss how successful writers work to continually reframe their ideas for different audiences, and students will workshop their own writing. As student interests dictate, we may also explore specific professional genres such as the conference proposal and the job letter.
