This is a course that explores the adaptation of literature for film and television. Students will analyze the original novels, short stories, biographies, plays and graphic novels and then examine how they’ve been adapted to the screen. Students will gain skills in both analyzing literature and creative screenwriting with their own adaptations. They will learn to critically explore the development of narrative structures. Past courses have explored literature and films such as Moonlight, Little Women, Orange is the New Black, The Maid, Othello, Bridgerton, and Malcom X.
