English 4510 is a writing workshop for students with serious interest in prose fiction. This is not a beginning-level course. Students are expected to be competent at prose writing and submit approximately 30 pages of finished writing by the end of the semester. 

Readings will include a sampling of classic stories from the beginning of the modern short story to the present day, all available through links on Canvas or through Project MUSE.

We will consider stories from the posted readings on the syllabus, as well as stories from the students, to be scheduled on a weekly basis. Some classes we will read and discuss additional student work, as well as outside readings.  All students in the class will be expected to provide editing feedback for other students in the class.
