Home is a site of return. A site of nostalgia. Of closeness. Of family. Of communion. Of conflict. Things that all coincidentally make for engaging theatre stories. This survey of dramatic literature examines the domestic sphere through narratives from the classic kitchen sink to the home that no one quite wants to live in. Over the semester we will analyze representations of home on the global stage in dramatic texts from prolific playwrights such as August Wilson, Suzan-Lori Parks, and Annie Baker.
