Film 2830 is an examination of American film history from the beginnings of cinema to roughly 1950. To this end, we will screen a variety of films (from The Bride of Frankenstein to His Girl Friday to Sunset Boulevard), read historical and critical scholarship, and approach each film from the perspectives of form, narrative, genre, and historical and cultural context.
