Course Description
(Cross-listed with Theatre 2920:02) (Tuesday and Thursday 2:00-3:15 class; Thursday 7:00-10:00 lab)
This course is designed as an introduction to playwriting for beginners, or more experienced playwrights who would like to review the basics. Students from other creative writing genres (poetry, fiction, memoir, composition, etc.) who want to explore playwriting as an adjunct to their current area of interest will also benefit. The course will look at playwriting as a process and the fundamental elements of that process. Through interactive activities in a workshop format, students will receive a grounding in key elements of narrative structure for writing a play, though these elements might be of use in any writing project.
