In this generative writing workshop, students will engage with many different styles and forms of creative prose. With an emphasis on the role of place and setting in storytelling, students will learn to identify, analyze, and employ diverse narrative strategies. Through collaborative-learning and constructive critique, students will have opportunities to practice craft elements of fiction while examining the aesthetic choices of widely published authors, Danielle Evans, Tommy Orange, Bryan Washington, Sara Nović, Carmen Maria Machado, and many others.
