Course Description

 

This semester, we will focus on the generative and regenerative powers of narrative, discussing technique in the context of world-building, safe space, escape, reparation, and survival.  We will anchor our conversation in Never Say You Can’t Survive, a collection of craft essays by Trans S/F writer Charlie Jane Anders.  Other texts may include All Grown Up by Jami Attenberg, The Art of Starving by Sam J, Miller, The Office of Historical Corrections by Danielle Evans, and Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2021. Students will write a several micro fictions and choose one for expansion and revision. We will also work on group reading projects and collaborative stories.
