Course Description

Join this class as we quest throughout the ages with King Arthur and his knights to discover how the myth and the legend has been adapted for today! We’ll speak of damsels, abbots, dwarves, hags, knights, kings, and queens. We’ll read (and watch! and play!) a variety of texts, movies, comic books, and board games about King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table, including Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte Darthur, Gilliam’s and Jones’s Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Lowery’s The Green Knight. Through these varied texts, we’ll ask questions about race, religion, gender, sexuality, class, loyalty, friendship, love, and betrayal. And, by the end of the course, you will know who are the knights that say… NI.
