Feminist Theory is a graduate seminar that offers an in-depth exploration of feminist theory, tracing its genealogies from foundational texts to contemporary debates. The syllabus emphasizes the historical evolution of feminist thought, its intersections with critical social issues, and its enduring relevance. Students will interrogate questions central to feminist theory, such as: What defines womanhood? What are the roots of women’s oppression? How do marginalized identities reshape feminist discourse? What is the current state of feminism and gender? The seminar is designed for students from a variety of graduate programs and disciplines who are interested in applying feminist concepts, frameworks, and analyses to their own research and scholarly work.
