In this course we'll explore a range of academic writing styles, from that found in academic articles and books to the crossover style employed in venues like The Los Angeles Review of Books and Public Books. We'll discuss how successful writers, academic and otherwise, continually reframe their ideas for different audiences, and students will workshop their own writing. As student interest dictates, we may also consider specific professional genres such as the conference proposal and job letter.
