Course Description
Ghosts, murder, scandal, women’s rights and colonialism—these are just a few topics we’ll be reading about in this British literature course! Through short stories, poems, and essays, we’ll examine the pressing issues the British were debating as they endured tremendous changes over just a few hundred years. Authors covered include Virginia Woolf, Zadie Smith, Arthur Conan Doyle, John Keats, Christina Rossetti, W.B. Yeats and Salman Rushdie. No textbooks required; all readings will be available on Canvas.
Assignments include 2 papers; reading journals; take-home midterm and final exam.
