Introduction to Creative Writing

Are you curious about the creative process? Would you like to try your hand at poetry? Learn the art of the short story? Explore personal experience and/or research in a literary essay?  In this introductory course, we will experiment with poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. You will read and produce work in all three genres, participate in workshops, and collaborate with your peers. Each unit will culminate in a group performance. Texts will include Short Form Creative Writing by H.K. Hummel and Stephanie Lenox and The Teacher’s and Writer’s Handbook of Poetic Forms by Ron Padgett.
