Course Description

This 1-credit course provides graduate students an opportunity to work on their advanced critical writing, such as a dissertation chapter, an article being submitted for publication, or the critical introduction to a creative dissertation. The workshop will meet weekly throughout the semester. Participants will submit drafts of their writing prior to the meeting in which it will be workshopped and will receive detailed and constructive feedback during the meeting. Depending on the interests of those enrolled in the workshop, we might also read short discussions about successful academic writing.

Please note that this course is not for workshopping job market materials, preparing drafts for comprehensive exams, or writing a seminar paper for a current class; the department has other opportunities to solicit feedback on these kinds of writing.
