Course Description

This course introduces linguistics, the scientific study of the human language. Students will study basic concepts in general linguistics as well as examine linguistic data from a broad range of languages from the following perspectives: phonetics and phonology (study of sounds), morphology (study of words, how they are formed), syntax (study of sentence structures) and semantics (study of meaning).
