Intermediate Poetry focuses on reading and writing contemporary poetry, relying on the workshop to open discussion about student poems. Having learned the basics of writing and reading poems, you can now begin to explore your own voice and style, while also building on the knowledge and experience gained in 1530, Introduction to Poetry. We’ll begin to consider poems both as collections (books and chapbooks) and individual publications (journals and magazines). We’ll also think about poetry as a digital form—from recorded spoken word to film to social media poetry. This course will continue to consider the forms and processes of writing poetry.
