This course will expose English majors to a variety of career possibilities by hearing from professionals in careers commonly associated with the major (e.g. publishing, magazine writing and editing, teaching, library science) and those in ones less predictable or further afield. In all cases, the potential benefits of the major will be discussed and celebrated. Students will begin to learn about getting a foot in the door of potential careers and callings, as well as hone their skills and materials as future job applicants. Local and national internship possibilities will also be discussed. Course requirements include weekly attendence and engagement with guest speakers, as well as periodic research into job resources.
