Alumni and Friends
Alumni and friends are an integral part of the Department of English, and we are proud to have over 6,000 alumni, living in all fifty states and fifteen other countries. Your service on boards and in alumni organizations, your participation in our "Career Days in English," and your generous financial contributions support the department's efforts in teaching and research.

Leaders Board
The Leaders Board is a group of alumni and friends that has been working since 2008 to support the students and faculty of the English Department and to provide outreach to the broad and diverse community of those who hold their degrees from this department. The group helps to fund scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students and contributes to awards for faculty as well as other resources that benefit the department. If you would like to find out more about the Leaders Board, please contact Alexandra Socarides at You may also follow the Leaders Board on Facebook.

Mizzou Favorite Poems Project
Created by English Department Leaders Board members, the Mizzou Favorite Poems Project collects short reflections on poems that have had a meaningful impact on students, faculty, alumni, and friends of the English department. If you would like to contribute to the Favorite Poems Project, please contact Sara Strong at

All alumni and friends receive our annual newsletter of departmental accomplishments and goings-on, Tate Times, towards the end of each summer. It is also available to download on this page. If you have an item you would like us to include in the newsletter, please email us at
