Library ResourcesLibrary Resource CommitteeThe English Department Library Committee works to promote and maintain access to the tools of scholarship for the department's students and faculty. We consult with Ellis Library staff on the management and acquisition of books, journals, and, increasingly, databases and other electronic resources. Electronic resources have become essential to all types of teaching and research, but many of these products are priced out of reach of Ellis Library's traditionally-oriented budget, which has remained essentially flat for many years. We work closely with the library to ensure the continued strength of book and journal holdings, and to promote basic electronic resources (such as the Oxford English Dictionary Online) as well as the specific needs of our program. We also work with other departments, such as art history and religious studies, to find creative ways of funding new databases by combining departmental resources. As indicated by the links below, we have a number of databases on our wish list, but have also had some recent successes. Acquired DatabasesDatabases Still Needed |
