The teaching title applies to full-time, ranked, non-tenure track (NTT) faculty whose primary responsibility is teaching or support of teaching (e.g., administration or supervision of teaching). The department's promotion policy currently applies only to this category.
Assistant Teaching Professor

Teaching Professor
The instructor title is used for full-time, unranked, non-regular faculty. In most cases, this will be used for faculty with MA degrees and limited teaching experience and who, thus, do not qualify for a ranked position.
Instructor
The adjunct title is assigned to non-regular faculty who are part-time. In some cases, this is a courtesy title for those whose primary responsibility is not teaching within the English department but who nevertheless teach in a limited capacity for the English department.

The visiting title is used for non-regular faculty who are on temporary appointments (not to exceed seven years).
