Richard HocksRichard Hocks is Professor Emeritus of English and Catherine Paine Middlebush Professor of Humanities at Missouri. He is the author of Henry James and Pragmatistic Thought (North Carolina '74), Henry James: A Study of the Short Fiction (Twayne '90), The Ambassadors: Consciousness, Culture, Poetry (Twayne '97), and about fifty scholarly essays, as well as co-editor of the Norton critical edition of The Wings of the Dove. A finalist for the National Book Award, he directs dissertations on 19th- and 20th-century American literature, film theory, and literature and philosophy. A referee for many journals, he also holds the Purple Chalk Award for teaching excellence and the faculty alumni award. Education Selected Publications
