The Graduate Program

Welcome!

from Andrew Hoberek, Director of Graduate Studies

Welcome to the Graduate Program in English at the University of Missouri-Columbia, the flagship campus of the University of Missouri system. We offer the MA and PhD in English across a wide range of areas, including American and British literature, Creative Writing, Folklore and Oral Tradition, African Diaspora Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, and Language and Linguistics. Students accepted into our programs generally receive assistantships or fellowships providing a full tuition and fee waiver and a stipend in exchange for teaching or research work. Whether you are a prospective student, a newly enrolled student, an experienced student, or a faculty member, it is our hope that the pages on this site will offer answers to basic questions regarding applying to our program, choosing whether to attend, and succeeding once you are here. Please do not hesitate to let the English Department know if you have any further questions. The table to the right provides a detailed list of contents; similar navigational links are provided on each page.
